{"id":5714,"date":"2026-05-18T10:22:20","date_gmt":"2026-05-18T01:22:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.phys.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp\/en\/?p=5714"},"modified":"2026-05-18T10:24:29","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T01:24:29","slug":"worlds-largest-transverse-magneto-thermoelectric-conductivity-arising-from-flat-bands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.phys.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp\/en\/news\/5714\/","title":{"rendered":"World's largest transverse magneto-thermoelectric conductivity arising from flat bands"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.phys.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/05\/figure1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.phys.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/05\/figure1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5715\" width=\"454\" height=\"159\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.phys.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/05\/figure1.jpg 605w, https:\/\/www.phys.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/05\/figure1-300x105.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 454px) 100vw, 454px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>A research group led by Project Assistant Professor Susumu Minami (at the time of the research; now Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University), doctoral student Yangming Wang (at the time of the research), doctoral student Hiroto Nakamura (at the time of the research),<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp\/ja\/people\/sakai_akito\/\" target=\"_blank\">&nbsp;Lecturer Akito Sakai<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp\/ja\/people\/nakatsuji_satoru\/\" target=\"_blank\">Professor Satoru Nakatsuji&nbsp;<\/a>at the Graduate School of Science, The University of Tokyo, in collaboration with&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp\/ja\/people\/arita_ryotaro\/\" target=\"_blank\">Professor Ryotaro Arita&nbsp;<\/a>of the same university (concurrently Team Director, RIKEN Center for Emergent Matter Science), Fundamental Science Research Fellow Rikuto Oiwa at RIKEN Center for Emergent Matter Science (at the time of the research; now Lecturer at Hokkaido University), Associate Professor Seigo Souma, and Professor Takafumi Sato at the Advanced Institute for Materials Research (WPI-AIMR), Tohoku University, observed the largest-ever transverse magneto-thermoelectric conductivity at room temperature in the ferrimagnetic material GdCo<sub>5<\/sub>.
