Iron-based binary ferromagnets for transverse thermoelectric conversion
News 2020/05/13

A research group of Assistant Professor Akito Sakai (ISSP, now: Lecturer, Department of Physics), Project Researcher Taishi Chen, Project Assistant Professor Tomoya Higo, Professor Satoru Nakatsuji (Department of Physics, ISSP, Trans-scale Quantum Science Institute) and others, in cooperation with research groups of Kanazawa University, RIKEN, Tohoku University, and the University of Tokyo's Graduate School of Engineering, discovered that a general-purpose material containing iron can obtain a magneto-thermoelectric effect (= anomalous Nernst effect) that is 20 times greater than iron alone.
